Parades are a time-honored form of pageantry in American culture. Towns frequently expanded this tradition to include celebrating the anniversary of their founding with parades featuring decorated horses and carriages. This lavishly decorated vehicle appeared in a parade celebrating the one hundred and fiftieth anniversary of the founding of Bernardston, Massachusetts.
