Passed by the GENERAL COURT
of Massachusetts ;
Begun and held at Boston, in the County of Suffolk, on Wednesday
the thirty-first Day of May, Anno Domini, 1786, and from thence
continued, by Prorogation and Adjournment, to Wednesday the thirty-first
Day of January, 1787.
CHAP. I.
An Act providing for the Pay and Subsistence of the Militia that have
been, now are, and may be employed by Government, in suppressing the dangerous
Rebellion that has taken Place within this Commonwealth.
WHEREAS a dangerous and an unprovoked rebellion has taken place within
this Commonwealth by a number of wicked and designing persons against
the constitution and government of the same : And whereas for the suppression
thereof, government has been under the necessity of sending forth a large
body of Militia, and further reinforcements may
